Backed by the St. Louis Chamber of Commerce and a budget of $15,000 - Charles Lindbergh began his flight across the Atlantic from NY to Paris on May 20th, 1927... The Ryan aircraft staggered under its heavy load of fuel, and barely made it aloft. 33 ½ hours later, Lindbergh brought the plane down safely at Le Bourget France.
