December 18, 1916 - Ruth Elizabeth Grable was born in St. Louis. Right before her mother moved her to Hollywood to be a star - they lived at the Forest Park Hotel at West Pine & Euclid - rumors are she danced in the spacious lobby! She went on to appear in more than 40 films and became the most popular of all the pin-up girls during World War Two. In 1943, Lloyds of London insured her legs for $1 million.
